Shakespeare in love, the film's beginning by Paul-Antoine Blanc

In the film "Shakespeare in love", Shakespeare had lost his gift/skill with words therefore/thus he could not write anymore sonnets nor plays. He had no more ideas. He was no longer inspired so he had to find a muse. His usual muse was called Aphrodite.
Aphrodite is the famous Greek goddess of beauty and love. However Shakespeare's Aphrodite was a prostitute who "did it behind the Dog and Trumpet", a pub.
Shakespeare went to the astronomer who gave him a bangle telling him to write his name on a piece of paper and put it inside the snake's mouth and then to give the bangle to his muse. So this woman would dream of him and he would recover his talent.
Queen Elizabeth I used to fall asleep during/while listening to sonnets and coughed during the plays, which annoyed Shakespeare a lot.
The woman Shakespeare fell in love with was the daughter of a wealthy man, that is to say, she was "well-monied" but not well-born that is why her father bought her a well-born husband belonging to the aristocracy. Lord Wessex had to ask the Queen for her agreement to his choice of a bride.
Viola wanted three things : poetry first and she would have loved to become an actress although she knew it would be impossible. At the time, women were not allowed to play on stage. Therefore, female parts were played by young men or boys which Viola found really/extremely ridiculous. she dreamed of adventure.
Moreover she wanted real love and she said it had nothing to do with stage love. She said men at court only saw her father's fortune but did not see nor love her, nor care for her wishes.

west side story : a review by shynese

West side story it is a film and a musical. It may be a western with cowboys and indians.

I like the rivalry between the two bands teenager, the clash of American and Puerto Rican throughout history.

The most touching scene in this film is the meeting between Tony and Maria who fell in love one to another. But who is sad is that this pairing is absolutely impossible. The charm of this movie are the scenes of singing they express themselves through music to the audience feel the emotions. The love and be married tony is stronger than ever from the first glance he wanted to leave more I liked this complicity, shame that Bernando not share the joy of his sister. Its me that dérenge Bernando not share the same perspective that Maria is determined to confront the "jets". Throughout the film he is in combat and we can say that one side is his personality that gives a little spice to the film
One can see that this film is well organized between the choreography, the songs or the decorations of scenes

West Side Story (Sarra L.)

West Side Story is a movie inspired by Shakespeare's tragedy "Romeo and Juliet".
The film was interesting and sometimes it was very funny too. The dances were beautiful but I did not like the songs between Maria and Tony, who are the two main characters in this film. I did not enjoy the scenes when Maria's brother, Bernardo, and her love, Tony, fight and B. gets killed: it was very sad.
I enjoyed Tony's visit to Maria's balcony because this is the beginning of their love I think it was the most beautiful scene. I liked the dance scene too because Maria and Tony meet there and the dances of the two rival gangs was really fun.
Eventually
, I'm crazy about old films , I particularly enjoy films from the 50's because they are more realistic and the actors do ther jobs without the help of special effects which is more interesting.

West Side Story

West Side Story is a musical film in which two gangs fight:the Sharks and the Jets. I found the film interesting and sometimes funny. There is a beautiful love story between Maria and Tony which ends badly.
I liked this film because it does not necessarily end well, these are things that can happen in life.We see that life is not a fairytale. I therefore recommend this movie because is
both a funny and touching film .We also see how racism was present in America and what violence it caused.

West Side Story A Review by Lambert Henri-louis.

West Side Story is a
musical comedy by Jerome Robbins and Robert Wise, released on October 18th, 1961.
West side story was inspired by Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare.
The story of the film deals with two gangs ; the Puerto Ricans ( the Sharks) and the Americans (Jets).

I have appreciated this movie because it is very amazing and comical.
However I was disappointed since the film is very long and at the end, I was bored.
At the beginning, this musical comedy seems funny... But after many hours, it starts to be long and very boring.
I experienced a lot of emotion. At the beginning, joy, then slowly nervousness when the two gangs clash and then sadness when Tony dies and Maria has her heart broken.

west side story : this film is an adaptation of "Romeo and Juliet" story, moved to New York in the 1950s .
To my mind this is a great adaptation of Shakespeare's play as a musical .The music, lyrics and choreography are terrific. The male dancing is strikingly masculine and virile, an expression of the strength and energy of the young men who make up the rival gangs.
I really enjoyed watching this film, despite the frequent musical breaks in the film which interfere with the course of the story . I recommend it because it is full of emotion .

summary:
West Side Story is a musical inspired from Romeo and Juliet. Two gangs, the Jets (from American descent) and the Sharks (Puerto Rican immigrants) ,live in and fight for an area of the West Side of Manhattan. Tony and Maria belong to the two different gangs and feel an impossible love.

review:
At the beginning, the movie made me laugh because the characters look ridiculous. They are dancing and singing and, for a gang, it is not realistic. To my mind, the film is a good adaptation of Romeo & Juliet. It is most interesting for our generation. The songs are rather varied, there are many kinds of music and that's great. The film brings various feelings out of the onlookers. The beginning is funny and then we switch to anxiety, suspense and sadness. The end is slightly different from Romeo & Juliet because Maria does not die and that shows the film director didn't make a replica but just an "update" to attract an other public.

WEST SIDE STORY

I like this film because it is very original and the music is moving. In my opinion it is one of the best movie despite frequent musical breaks .The only thing that disappointed me was the dance but everything else I really enjoyed. The end of the story was very confusing though.

West Side Story review (Vanessa)

As for me the movie was interesting and wonderful. We didn't expect this ending because there are lots of deaths. There are many dances and songs, the movie deals both with romance and action. To my mind it is important to watch West Side Story to know the differences between the American and the Puerto Rican gangs.
Actors were excellent, impressive and athletic. There is an organization to the choreography which was impressive. Most of the protagonists die so the ending is very sad and shocks because the fight is violent with knifes and fists.
In my opinion there is a bad story and a happy story in West Side Story. First the wonderful, fantastic and impossible love between Maria and Tony, after that I felt the hatred, the racism between the Puerto Rican and the American gangs
We can find lots of similarities between West Side Story and Romeo and Juliet.
For example the scene when Maria was on the balcony and Tony was under it, when they revealed their love and they sang together. It's romantic. Or the death of Tony but Maria stay in life at the end of the film whereas Juliet die in Romeo and Juliet.

West side story

I think this movie was rather boring as there is no action. The song was soft and the end really ordinary.
this movie is very badly played because the plans are not to do so to believe to spectator that the charactèrs are hitted.
The film takes place in a neighborhood.
the scene in common with "Romeo and Juliet" is when Maria was on the balcony

West Side Story Review By Wazna.B.

To my mind, this movie was very interesting and even funny sometimes. But, at the end, the film was sad because Tony, Maria's lover, dies.
The 2 protagonists of West Side Story, Tony and Maria, look like of the 2 protagonists of the play by Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet. Their love seems impossible because they belong to 2 feuding gangs ( or families ). Indeed Tony belongs to the Jets, with his friend Riff and Bernardo is the leader of the Sharks.
At a ball, Tony falls in love with Bernardo's sister, Maria. But Bernardo doesn't accept this love. A fight begins between Bernardo and Tony, for Maria.

Similitaries Between West Side Story And Romeo & Juliet
The balcony scene is the first similarity between the 2 movies.

WEST SIDE STORY

I thought at first it was funny, because the characters were ridiculous !
But after it became dull and boring...
Maybe because it is an old film, and we, a 21th century generation, are not adapted to see this kind of story.
This film is very badly played because we see that the characters are not really hitting one another in fights, and when a character gets stabbed, he/she does not bleed and dies on the spot.

This scene, when Chino kills Tony, looks like "Romeo and Juliet" (by Shakespeare), because Tony is killed by his enemy and Maria witnesses it all.
But it's really ridiculous, because the Jets and the Sharks arrived and they stood together and united, there was no bloodshed unlike in "Romeo and Juliet".

West Side Story: a review by Paul-Antoine Blanc

This is an important scene in the film, at the dance where Tony meets Maria.

At the beginning, the film was quite funny. When they were in the street and they danced each step, it made me laugh. To my mind, they looked a bit ridiculous, because we don't see people walking like this every day. I think the dances were well choreographed and their length astonished me.
In my opinion, the meetings between Tony and Maria are stilted as well as the love scenes. Sometimes, the love songs are insufferable, Maria's voice is too high pitched but some street songs are well built and impressive. I was expecting the death of Tony, because if we know that the film is based on Romeo and Juliet's story, we know the ending. I thought that Maria would killed herself after Tony's death but I was wrong. The scene where Maria is at her balcony looks like the so called Romeo and Juliet's balcony scene where Romeo calls Juliet. The only difference is that the environment is not really the same, in West Side Story it is in a backstreet whereas in Romeo and Juliet, the scene takes place in a marvelous mansion.

The song melodies keep popping up in our heads and it sometimes annoys.
To conclude, I had a good time nonetheless.

RENEWABLE ENERGY by henri-louis LAMBERT

I: What is renewable energy?

To begin with, renewable energy is inexhaustible or stocks are replenished.
Renewable energy is derived from regular natural phenomena, likethe Sun, but also the Moon and the Earth.
Specifically the four energies that are most known are:
Wind energy, water energy, Solar energy, Geothermal energy.

II:Different renewable energies:
1)Wind energy

The wind turns the blades, which are themselves coupled to a rotor and a generator.
When the wind is strong enough (15km/h minimum), the blades rotate and cause??? the generator that produces electricity.

2)Hydropower:

It's like the wind, but the energy does not come from the wind but the water that drives the turbine.

3)Solar energy:

There are two types of solar energy: photovoltaic and thermal.
Photovoltaic solar energy is electricity generated from solar radiation. Excited by sunlight, electrons are put into motion and produce electricity.
Solar thermal does not produce electricity but the heat with great dark panels in which water circulates, it takes the heat from the sun to heat water.

4)Geothermal:

The principle is to fetch hot water under the earth to recover heat. It can be used to heating and when it is very hot, for production of electricity.
