West Side Story review (Vanessa)

As for me the movie was interesting and wonderful. We didn't expect this ending because there are lots of deaths. There are many dances and songs, the movie deals both with romance and action. To my mind it is important to watch West Side Story to know the differences between the American and the Puerto Rican gangs.
Actors were excellent, impressive and athletic. There is an organization to the choreography which was impressive. Most of the protagonists die so the ending is very sad and shocks because the fight is violent with knifes and fists.
In my opinion there is a bad story and a happy story in West Side Story. First the wonderful, fantastic and impossible love between Maria and Tony, after that I felt the hatred, the racism between the Puerto Rican and the American gangs
We can find lots of similarities between West Side Story and Romeo and Juliet.
For example the scene when Maria was on the balcony and Tony was under it, when they revealed their love and they sang together. It's romantic. Or the death of Tony but Maria stay in life at the end of the film whereas Juliet die in Romeo and Juliet.

West side story

I think this movie was rather boring as there is no action. The song was soft and the end really ordinary.
this movie is very badly played because the plans are not to do so to believe to spectator that the charactèrs are hitted.
The film takes place in a neighborhood.
the scene in common with "Romeo and Juliet" is when Maria was on the balcony

West Side Story Review By Wazna.B.

To my mind, this movie was very interesting and even funny sometimes. But, at the end, the film was sad because Tony, Maria's lover, dies.
The 2 protagonists of West Side Story, Tony and Maria, look like of the 2 protagonists of the play by Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet. Their love seems impossible because they belong to 2 feuding gangs ( or families ). Indeed Tony belongs to the Jets, with his friend Riff and Bernardo is the leader of the Sharks.
At a ball, Tony falls in love with Bernardo's sister, Maria. But Bernardo doesn't accept this love. A fight begins between Bernardo and Tony, for Maria.

Similitaries Between West Side Story And Romeo & Juliet
The balcony scene is the first similarity between the 2 movies.

WEST SIDE STORY

I thought at first it was funny, because the characters were ridiculous !
But after it became dull and boring...
Maybe because it is an old film, and we, a 21th century generation, are not adapted to see this kind of story.
This film is very badly played because we see that the characters are not really hitting one another in fights, and when a character gets stabbed, he/she does not bleed and dies on the spot.

This scene, when Chino kills Tony, looks like "Romeo and Juliet" (by Shakespeare), because Tony is killed by his enemy and Maria witnesses it all.
But it's really ridiculous, because the Jets and the Sharks arrived and they stood together and united, there was no bloodshed unlike in "Romeo and Juliet".

West Side Story: a review by Paul-Antoine Blanc

This is an important scene in the film, at the dance where Tony meets Maria.

At the beginning, the film was quite funny. When they were in the street and they danced each step, it made me laugh. To my mind, they looked a bit ridiculous, because we don't see people walking like this every day. I think the dances were well choreographed and their length astonished me.
In my opinion, the meetings between Tony and Maria are stilted as well as the love scenes. Sometimes, the love songs are insufferable, Maria's voice is too high pitched but some street songs are well built and impressive. I was expecting the death of Tony, because if we know that the film is based on Romeo and Juliet's story, we know the ending. I thought that Maria would killed herself after Tony's death but I was wrong. The scene where Maria is at her balcony looks like the so called Romeo and Juliet's balcony scene where Romeo calls Juliet. The only difference is that the environment is not really the same, in West Side Story it is in a backstreet whereas in Romeo and Juliet, the scene takes place in a marvelous mansion.

The song melodies keep popping up in our heads and it sometimes annoys.
To conclude, I had a good time nonetheless.

RENEWABLE ENERGY by henri-louis LAMBERT

I: What is renewable energy?

To begin with, renewable energy is inexhaustible or stocks are replenished.
Renewable energy is derived from regular natural phenomena, likethe Sun, but also the Moon and the Earth.
Specifically the four energies that are most known are:
Wind energy, water energy, Solar energy, Geothermal energy.

II:Different renewable energies:
1)Wind energy

The wind turns the blades, which are themselves coupled to a rotor and a generator.
When the wind is strong enough (15km/h minimum), the blades rotate and cause??? the generator that produces electricity.

2)Hydropower:

It's like the wind, but the energy does not come from the wind but the water that drives the turbine.

3)Solar energy:

There are two types of solar energy: photovoltaic and thermal.
Photovoltaic solar energy is electricity generated from solar radiation. Excited by sunlight, electrons are put into motion and produce electricity.
Solar thermal does not produce electricity but the heat with great dark panels in which water circulates, it takes the heat from the sun to heat water.

4)Geothermal:

The principle is to fetch hot water under the earth to recover heat. It can be used to heating and when it is very hot, for production of electricity.
